VA Video Connect

The VA Maine Healthcare System has made available virtual benefit meetings via VA Video Connect (VVC)!

This technology allows Veterans to schedule video meetings in the comfort of their homes, using their own devices (e.g., smartphone, computer, laptop, tablet, etc.) for questions or updates about their VA benefits.

Aides-De-Camp

For many years, the Governor of the State of Maine has looked to military veterans to offer advice and support on initiatives effecting Maine veterans. 

Governor Janet Mills is looking to fill the Aides-De-Camp positions as laid out in Maine Statute.

The honorary military staff may consist of not more than 11 Aides-De-Camp commissioned by the Governor to serve during the Governor's term. Honorably discharged officers or enlisted personnel who served in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard or Marine Corps and who are not members of the state military forces may be appointed as aides-de-camp.

These individuals will be expected to meet with the Governor as requested to discuss issues pertaining to Maine veterans and to serve as a liaison between to the Governor and the veteran service organization they represent.

If you are a military veteran, and are interested in serving as an Aide-de Camp to Governor Mills, please send a letter of interest and resume to the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Service c/o Director David A. Richmond at: mainebvs@maine.gov or 117 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04330-0117.

Alternately, Maine service organizations and other veteran centric organizations may submit nominees from their organizations for consideration, using the same application process, before April 30th, 2021.



REMINDER:
2021 Disabled Veterans Controlled Moose Hunt 
Applications Now Available

The Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services (MBVS) is accepting applications for the 2021 Disabled Veterans Controlled Moose Hunt held in Aroostook County.

Unlike the regular IF&W moose lottery, the Disabled Veterans Controlled Moose Lottery is limited to only those veterans with a disability rating of at least 50%. Each hunter is required to team up with a registered Maine Guide who has specific training for the hunt, and if a veteran has ever tagged a moose through the program, that veteran is ineligible to hunt again. 

Applications must be submitted to the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services by 4:00PM on Friday, April 30th.  Applications can be downloaded from the Bureau’s website.

Completed applications can then be uploaded directly to the Bureau's "Document Upload" page.

 Results of the lottery will be posted no earlier than Friday, May 28th.
